A word from Jason
I am here to say goodbye to Bavarian Football Works as site manager. I was humbled to lead an amazing team dedicated to delivering great content to the smart, engaged and passionate BFW community.
I walk away proud. What I am not doing, however, is permanently walking away from the BFW community. On occasion, you might see my byline, a comment or a re-tweet of something fantastic that is produced by BFW staff. Speaking of comments, Markopolo wins for the best, and most creative, burn of my beloved VfB.
I am also lucky that the site can now say hello to a site manager whose intelligence, community engagement and drive will make the site even better in every way it can be measured.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss (no, not that Bosz!)
Servus, BFW! I’m both very proud and excited to announce that I am taking over as managing editor of BFW.
Before I say anything else, all of us owe Jason our gratitude for guiding the site with such a sure hand over the past several months. Like you, I did not know what to expect after Phillip Quinn announced he was stepping down after leading BFW for four years. I could have never imagined that Jason would take the reins so confidently and effectively that BFW would seamlessly continue to flourish and grow.
I have learned immensely from Jason while working as assistant editor. His professional experience and cool head have shown me how to negotiate the difficult task of running a site like BFW and managing a team of unique writers. I also want to thank our previous editors, Phil and Ryan Cowper, who put their confidence in me as a new writer and truly taught me the craft of sports writing and editing. They have all set a very high standard. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Together with the amazing team we have assembled, both old and new, I promise that I will do my utmost to maintain the same extraordinarily high standard of quality here at BFW. That applies both to the articles we write and to you, our amazing community.
As for me, I can hardly believe I’m going to be managing this site. I created an SB Nation account with the handle “Servus” just over three years ago, on November 26, 2014, after stumbling across this site. After a few fanposts, I became a writer in 2016. A little writing turned into a lot, and here we are.
I’m thrilled to be doing this. I love BFW and want to make it even better. I know I’ll get by with a little help from my friends.
Mia san mia!
