Despite Jupp Heynckes’s firm stance that he will not continue to coach Bayern Munich after the end of this season, former Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer is confident that Uli Hoeness could convince Heynckes to stay at least for one more season.

Last weekend, Heynckes refused to comment further on his future when speaking at Bayern’s training camp in Doha, Qatar (Kicker), although several players have welcomed the idea of Heynckes staying on - Jerome Boateng in particular.

Speaking to Eurosport (via ESPN), Sammer said he believed Hoeness’s persistence may indicate that there is a chance he could potentially override Heynckes’s reluctance:

It’s difficult to say as I know Jupp as a consistent person, who has certain requirements that are binding. I don’t know if it’s at all possible for him to alter these - only he can decide this. My feeling is that Uli knows Jupp excellently. If he continues to steam in as before, he’s not given up hope that Jupp’s statement is not set in stone for this summer. This is the currently the case but we all know Uli well enough -- he would not chase a lost cause.

Be that as it may, Heynckes will be 100% focused on his squad during the Rückrunde as Bayern are still well within reach of repeating their treble winning glory of the 2012-2013 season. Heynckes may be quick to play down any talk of his future with the club between now and the end of the season, but Hoeness has shown no sign of letting up in his efforts to convince him to stay - a boon that would comfort many Bayern fans.
