Tuesday’s World Cup qualifiers a mixed bag for Bayern Munich players

At least the international break is over!

Four Bayern Munich players were in action today in World Cup qualifying.

Spain vs Liechtenstein

After not playing Saturday in Spain’s 3-0 victory over Italy, Thiago Alcantara played the entire 90 minutes against Liechtenstein, which was outclassed, 8-0. Thiago, like the whole Spanish team, dominated the midfield and did whatever he wanted to do. The Bayern midfielder finished the game with 4 shots and completed 97 percent of his passes.

Chile vs Bolivia

Chile ended their international break with another shocking loss, this time 1-0 against Bolivia. Arturo Vidal had another nightmare game. For the 80 minutes Vidal was on the pitch he looked lost, couldn’t find his teammates and the whole team looked disorganized against a frustrating Bolivia defense. With this loss Chile are in danger of missing the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Colombia vs Brazil

A fully fit James Rodriguez finally returned to the pitch with Colombia playing the full 90 minutes of a 1-1 tie against powerhouse Brazil. For a player that hasn’t played in over a month, James looked fast and dangerous with the ball. The Colombian captain was very involved in the attack, ending the game with 4 shots and making the key pass for the Colombian goal that tied the game in the 56th minute.

Now that the break is over all players will return safe and healthy to Munich, except David Alaba who seemed to pick up an injury in Austria’s World Cup qualifying match against Georgia.
