After an underwhelming 3-0 win over Anderlecht in the Champions league on Tuesday, Bayern Munich return to Bundesliga action, this time against FSV Mainz 05.
On paper, the tie seems like a routine game for the Bavarians, with Mainz having just barely avoided finishing in the relegation spots the year before. However, it isn’t that simple. Since 2015-16, the plucky little club have taken the same number of points from Bayern as Borussia Dortmund, despite a massive gulf in quality. Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti will have to be wary of the little club under new coach Sandro Schwarz, as Mainz hope to outfox the Bavarians yet again.
It’s Bayern time.
