Ah yes, deadline day. The way the European football transfer window is set up means that the next 24 hours will see the most hectic and unexpected moments in the last three months.
Of course, as fans of FC Bayern Munich, we at Bavarian Football Works have very little to discuss in terms of transfer deadline day action. Almost half our incoming summer transfers were completed all the way back in January, with the rest being completed by July. With Renato Sanches sent out on loan to Paul Clement’s Swansea, and Bayern reportedly rejecting a bid for Rafinha, it seems like our transfer window is already done.
However, there’s more to it than that. Because of certain occurrences in the transfer market this year, a lot of big clubs are in the lurch. Liverpool are hopeful that they will keep Philippe Coutinho and buy Virgil van Dijk from Southampton and Thomas Lemar from Monaco. Chelsea have missed out on almost all RWB targets and are really scraping the barrel to find one. Spurs ... haven’t really done much so far. Arsenal? Well no one really knows what Arsenal are doing.
Meanwhile there’s Barcelona. Wow, Barcelona.
This thread is meant to discuss all those things, and more. Feel free to take a look at all the new signings happening in the next 24-48 hours. Talk about what they mean for Bayern Munich, our rivals in the UCL, and maybe for football in general. Maybe Juventus will make an incredibly dumb signing in the next 24 hours. Maybe Monchi will make a shock move for Boateng. Maybe you think Bayern should have gone after someone but we didn’t.
That’s what this thread is for. Have fun.
