Two match days in and the Bundesliga is already on hiatus. This was no secret and we were suitably warned, yet one can not help but be thirsty for more Bayern Munich as now our whistle has been whet by two victories plus a DFL-Supercup trophy.

The players are still working hard with five of them (Mats Hummels, Thomas Müller, Joshua Kimmich, Niklas Süle and Sebastian Rudy) hooking up with the German squad for their two World Cup qualifiers. Robert Lewandowski has joined Poland. Ditto David Alaba for Austria and Thiago for Spain. Renato Sanches has been called up for the Portugal U-21 squad as he tries to work his way back into the picture for the senior squad.

Heading to South America, James Rodriguez has been called up by Colombia and Arturo Vidal is in Chile.

From a Bayern perspective the most interesting match is Thursday in France with Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman facing off against Arjen Robben of The Netherlands. The French squad is extremely deep so there is no guarantee that either Tolisso or Coman will take the field but Robben is an extremely important player for the Dutch.

Robben realizes that his team is the underdog but states,

“I'm always very positive and we've got to be positive when we go there. Some may say that France have a better team, but if you go there with that mindset, you might as well stay at home. We must have faith that we can achieve something - then we can.”

The attacker also acknowledged that he needs more game time and that he will “give everything I have in me” for the match against France, which is crucial for the Dutch World Cup hopes.
