Two weeks into the Bundesliga season and the first international break is upon us. Among the many Bayern Munich players about to depart for international duty, James Rodriguez has been called up to represent his country Colombia, despite the fact that he has not yet fully recovered from the muscular injury he suffered during Bayern’s Audi Summer Tour.
Colombia has upcoming World Cup qualifying matches away against Venezuela on August 31 and at home against Brazil on September 5th. According to a press release issued by Bayern, it has been agreed that James will not be available for Colombia’s first game against Venezuela, after an examination by Bayern’s club medic Dr. Volker Braun.
James may, however, play in Colombia’s match against Brazil. The decision whether James plays will reportedly be made in consultation with both Braun and the doctor of the Colombian national team. Since James thus far is still training individually, international duty could not have come at a worse time.
