Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller, Sebastian Rudy, Niklas Süle, Mats Hummels, and Joshua Kimmich have all been called up by Joachim Low for Die Mannschaft’s pair of World Cup Qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Norway. The squad is also comprised of 17 players that were a part of this summer’s Confederations Cup title for Germany - Low has invested a lot of faith in some of the younger players in the squad.
Manuel Neuer has been omitted from the 24-man roster, though he’s set to make his Bayern return tomorrow at Werder Bremen after a three and half month injury layoff from a metatarsal injury in his foot.
The quintet were all in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven last Friday in Bayern’s 3-1 triumph over Bayer Leverkusen, as well as the German super-cup win over Borussia Dortmund three weeks ago, bar Süle, who came on as a sub for the injured Javi Martinez. Süle and Rudy have been particularly impressive and both could have a fair shot for minutes in either of the two qualifiers.
All five players are likely to be in tomorrow's starting lineup at Werder Bremen, although the return of Thiago Alcantara from injury could relegate Rudy to starting from the bench.
Germany are currently boasting a perfect qualifying record having won six of six, and are in pole position of group G in UEFA World Cup qualifying. Six points from the next two qualifiers would all but guarantee them direct qualification into next summer’s finals in Russia.
