Get ready, Chicago, Der Klassiker is coming to town.
Former New York Times soccer reporter Jack Bell tweeted that Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will play in the Windy City next summer. Bell did not have further details about the venue (likely Soldier Field) or exact date. It’s also unknown if the matchup will be part of the International Champions Cup.
German Clásico coming to Chicago next summer -- Dortmund v Munich. More good stuff, too. Stay tuned.

The Der Klassiker is the latest of European soccer’s biggest rivalries to come to the United States. This summer’s ICC saw both the Manchester Derby between Manchester United and Manchester City and El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona played in the United States before big crowds.
The timing of the game could be a bit awkward due to the World Cup being played in Russia next summer. That could mean depleted rosters for both clubs. Nevertheless, this is fantastic news for German soccer fans living in the United States.
