Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, was quite firm in his stance that the club will not let chief scout, Sven Mislintat, go to Bayern Munich. Speaking with Sport BILD earlier this week, Zorc reiterated Dortmund's stance on the matter amid the rumors:
Sven is staying with Borussia Dortmund and that's that. BVB will not give up Mislintat under any circumstances. We didn't extend his contract until 2021 just a few months ago for no reason. I'm a bit surprised by Bayern Munich's actions
Mislintat’s link to Bayern comes just one week after the Bavarians announced the departure of technical director Michael Reschke to VFB Stuttgart. Reschke leaves the club after three years and having been a chief architect of a number of significant signings for Bayern.
Despite Dortmund's reluctance to entertain the possibility of Mislintat leaving, Bayern were well within their rights to pursue him, given the fact that Thomas Tuchel has been out of the picture for a little over two months now. Tuchel and Mislintat were known to have had quite a few disputes over a number of different issues at the club, and the ownership ultimately felt it was most appropriate to remove Tuchel from the equation.
Bayern's efforts to bring Mislintat to Bavaria were spearheaded by newly appointed sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić, who only just assumed the position a little over a week ago. Bringing in Mislintat for Reschke could've been a more than ideal scenario for Bayern, but the search for a new technical director continues.
