Bayern Munich would like to extend the contract of Chile midfielder and all-around warrior Arturo Vidal beyond his current deal’s end date of June 2019, TZ reports.

Bayern would like to extend Vidal through the 2020-21 season and an extension would probably see Vidal’s wages match current club stars Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski and Manuel Neuer in the territory of €15 million per season.

TZ says the Vidal extension talk is on the heels of media reports in Chile that Inter Milan had a bid of €57 million for Vidal rejected in recent days. Another report had Inter chasing both Vidal and Alexis Sanchez, long linked to a move to Bayern, in an aggressive double swoop.

Vidal and Bayern teammate Joshua Kimmich did get in a bit of dust-up during the FIFA Confederations Cup final but both players downplayed it to nothing more than emotions running high during Germany’s narrow 1-0 win over Chile. This is probably not the kind of incident that makes a player like Vidal look for the exit.
