After seemingly being a wrapped-up story a few days ago, Leon Goretzka has thrown some fuel on the fires of his own transfer speculation by denying reports that he has a deal in place with Bayern Munich. Here is what he had to say [via tz.de]:
I have made a clear statement on this issue: When a decision has been made, I will pass it on. Since that is not the case, I can't report anything new.
The statement comes as a response to comments made by German journalist Raphael Honigstien on twitter, where he said that Gotetzka had a deal in place with the German record champions.
Goretzka, whose contract with Schalke runs out next summer, has been linked to several clubs across Europe, including the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid. The talented German midfielder has remained non-committal on the subject of his transfer for quite some time now, insisting that no decision has been taken each and every time. It is unclear whether he is genuinely weighing up his options, or whether this is a ploy to keep Schalke fans placated for another year, before he becomes a free agent.
Only time will tell.
