What will the Bavarians be doing this summer?

It’s going to be an extremely busy summer for Bayern Munich.

International Schedule

Friendlies and World Cup Qualifiers

Various Bayern players have been called up for upcoming friendlies and World Cup qualifiers. However, those matches will be completed by the second week of June.

FIFA Confederations Cup June 17 - July 2

Four Bayern players will be involved in the event taking place in Russia as preparation for the World Cup in 2018. Joshua Kimmich, Sebastian Rudy, Niklas Süle, and Arturo Vidal will be battling it out for Germany and Chile respectively. The two sides are favorites to win the competition along with Portugal and Mexico.

The best news is that Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, and Thomas Müller won’t have to play in this competition and receive some valuable rest.

UEFA European U-21 Championship June 16 - June 30

Renato Sanches has been called up for Portugal’s U-21 side in this summer’s European Championship in Poland. He should receive expected playing time here instead of with the senior squad at the Confederations Cup.

(Previously, I noted that Renato Sanches was going to receive a full break this summer and be able to participate in full Bayern training. Whoops. I didn’t even realize that the U-21 Championship was taking place. My bad.)

UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 July 16 - August 6

Bayern Frauen players will be spread throughout this tournament when it kicks off in the Netherlands. Germany has won seven of the previous eight European Championships. However, the sport is deeper than ever before, and it’s only a matter of time before someone knocks the Germans off of their pedestal. Will this be the year it finally happens?
