According to a report from the Deutsche Presse Agentur, negotiations between Bayern Munich and Juventus Turin over the transfer of Bayern’s winger Douglas Costa have stalled. The two clubs have not yet reached an agreement over the transfer. Ominously, the new report claims that talks are “currently” not even taking place.
It is not clear why talks between the clubs have been put on ice. A number of conflicting reports have emerged in recent days about the progress of the deal. Initially, it appeared that Costa had reached terms with Juventus, and that the clubs were negotiating the transfer fee. Later reports, however, claimed that agreement had been reached over a transfer fee around €40 million, but Juventus had to negotiate with Costa over his salary.
If Bayern sell Douglas Costa for €40 million, it will be the most lucrative sale in the club’s history - easily topping the €30 million Bayern collected from Real Madrid for Toni Kroos.
