After initial reports today that defender Javi Martínez had missed practice on account of a cold, Bayern Munich broke the surprising news that Javi would miss the final two games of the season on account of a broken collarbone. According to the official press release,

The Bundesliga season has ended prematurely for Javier Martínez: the 28-year-old Spanish national player of FC Bayern Munich broke his left collarbone while hiking during a visit to his home and has already successfully been operated on by Prof. Dr. Hans Hertlein today, Tuesday, in Munich.

With Javi officially out of contention for a starting spot, it would appear that Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels will sound out the season together on Bayern's back line, unless Carlo Ancelotti shakes things up for the sake of some late rotation.

Get well, Javi!
