Rumors and speculation have abounded in recent months that Bayern Munich would be making a serious offer to Arsenal for the services of Alexis Sanchez. TZ has a detailed breakdown of all of the rumors that have persisted. And, let’s be honest, this is a move that makes a lot of sense for everyone involved.

Of course, a lot of this will depend on Arsenal’s finish to the 2016-17 Premier League season. Currently, they’re slated to miss out on the UEFA Champions League for the first time in twenty years. It would make a lot of sense that some of their bigger name players would want to leave the club for another that’s competing for the Champions League.

Sanchez would fill multiple “needs” at Bayern. He can fill in at any of the attacking positions in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 that Bayern would play under Carlo Ancelotti. Having a bonafide star to ready to step in instead of an unproven player like Douglas Costa or a young player like Kingsley Coman would be a huge boost.

Still, bringing in Sanchez would be an incredibly strong message to Costa that he’s no longer needed in Munich. The Brazilian has also been the subject of transfer rumors this entire year, and Sanchez’s arrival would certainly mean that the would look to leave Bayern for playing time.

Sanchez would unquestionably be the most expensive transfer in Bayern history, and he would likely break the club’s wage structure. With all of that said, this is definitely a transfer that Bayern should seriously consider.
