Sadly, Jerome Boateng was getting an MRI instead of reveling in the restorative powers of a Weißbier shower yesterday. Bayern’s defensive stalwart suffered yet another frustrating injury just ten minutes into Bayern Munich’s final game against Freiburg and missed all the ensuing celebrations.
Boateng is optimistic, however, about the mildness of the injury and his future return. Asked today how he felt, he replied, “Thank you, quite all right.” Boateng confirmed that the MRI had detected a muscle injury. He added, “I’ll be fit again for preseason training.”
It was by far the worst season for Boateng since he injured his knee in 2011 while playing for Manchester City, requiring meniscus surgery and missing 10 games. Boateng missed a staggering 29 games this past season.
Get well, Jerome!
