Realistically, only one other player has a shot.

The race for the Torjägerkanone comes down to the final game of the season. Only two players can realistically win the award: Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski or Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Lewandowski will get his chance to add to his 30 goals against Freiburg. In the first match between the two teams in Freiburg back in January, Lewandowski grabbed a brace, including the game winner in stoppage time.

Aubameyang must outscore Lewandowski by one goal if he hopes to win the Torjägerkanone. He’ll get his shot at home in the Signal Iduna Park when Dortmund welcome Werder Bremen.

This would be back-to-back top scorer awards for Lewandowski and three out of the last four years. It’s safe to say that he’s cemented himself as the best goalscorer in the Bundesliga and one of the best goalscorers that the league has ever seen. The one year he didn’t win the title was his first year adjusting to life in Munich.
