Bixente Lizarazu has a nice gig, if you can get it. The former Bayern Munich left back is one of several legends that the club has brought back into the fold as Club Ambassadors.

What does that role entail? Well, it certainly includes traveling the world, that’s for sure. In February, he was part of the delegation representing Bayern in China and Singapore at the announcement of the club’s summer tour. However, on Saturday, Lizarazu was in New York for the opening of Upper 90’s latest location in Queens.

The viewing part at Upper 90 was put together by Bayern and adidas, and more than 300 Bayern supporters showed up to meet the legend and watch Der Klassiker.

“This is the first time I’ve watched the Klassiker in New York with fans and it has been an amazing experience,” Lizarazu said.” Being in the city for a few days and meeting lots of people, I am very impressed with how much love there is for soccer and FC Bayern Munich. I can’t wait for my next trip.”

It’s great to see Bayern doing these events around big matches to get the communities more engaged in the club. Keep expanding that supporter base.
