Bayern Munich wasted no time jumping in front in Der Klassiker. From the opening whistle, the Bavarians pushed the pace against Borussia Dortmund, forcing their rivals from the Ruhr onto their back foot.
The opening goal came just four minutes into the match. Thiago Alcantara clipped a pass from Arjen Robben out wide to Philipp Lahm. The fullback took a few touches before sending a hard cross into the penalty area toward Franck Ribery. The Frenchman caught the ball first time with a sweet strike to send the ball past Roman Bürki.
The goal was Ribery’s 110th for Bayern pulling him level with Uli Hoeneß on the club’s all time scoring list.
What a great gift for a guy that turned 34 yesterday. He sure doesn’t look like he’s missed a step.
Ribery gives Bayern an early lead in #DerKlassiker a day after his 34th birthday. Yep, he's still got it! #goalmania https://t.co/osrUwgw7DR
