Before Der Klassiker, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke with WAZ about any potential Bayern Munich transfers of Borussia Dortmund players. He spoke matter-of-factly on the issue, but as we’ve learned over the years, you can never say never.

Rummenigge ruled out any approach from Bayern around young Dortmund players Christian Pulisic, Julian Weigl, and Ousmane Dembele. "I read those rumours too. But I have to note that fewer and fewer of them are true,” he told WAZ. “I can guarantee you today that we have not contacted one of those players and will not contact them.”

The two teams became more cordial in the last years, and Rummenigge doesn’t want to disrupt that relationship now. When pressed on the matter, Rummenigge said, “Yes, none of them. Besides: Why should BVB sell them?”

In recent years, we’ve seen Bayern successfully use the transfer market to sign Mario Götze, Robert Lewandowski, and Mats Hummels, while sending Götze and Sebastian Rode back the opposite direction.

We’ll see what happens.
