Bayern Munich has another massive match approaching. Wednesday, the Allianz Arena will play host to a DFB Pokal Semifinal matchup between Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. This is the sixth straight year that Bayern and Dortmund are meeting in the Pokal.

A big questions that Bayern are facing heading into the match is the health of the defense. In the last two weeks, injuries have wrecked the Bayern squad with David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, and Javi Martinez all being hit with the injury bug.

So, what’s the status of the defense as we get closer to Wednesday’s big match?

Boateng and Martinez both participated in a portion of team training on Sunday and are expected to take part in full training beginning on Monday. If both are able to go the distance against Dortmund, Carlo Ancelotti will have his hands full with deciding which two of the trio will start against Dortmund.

Alaba trained by himself on Sunday, with an eye toward Wednesday. The hope is that by Tuesday, Alaba will be able to join in full team training for the first time.
