Jerome Boateng was among the many Bayern Munich players to speak to the media following the club’s elimination at the hands of Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
Of course, the referee’s performance came up in the conversation.

“The red card for Arturo decided the game. I don’t know why Madrid’s players weren’t booked when they fouled us. I really don’t get it. And, besides that, two of Madrid’s goals were clearly offside. Everyone makes mistakes. But not so many. It was a crucial game. That’s just disappointing. I think we did a good job. If it would’ve been 11 vs 11, we’d have made it to the next round.”
It’s hard to disagree with what Boateng says here.
Boateng and Mats Hummels played a fantastic match at the center of Bayern’s defense. They were even better when you consider that both players were basically a match time decision due to injuries sustained in recent weeks.
