Jersey Swap: Ugh
We always try to acknowledge who the best player on the field for the opposition is during any match. However, let’s be honest about this, not a single player for Augsburg looked good on this day. Bayern controlled the match from second one, and Augsburg were never in it. I’m sorry, Augsburg.
Tip of the Cap: Sven Ulreich
He didn’t have much to do in this one, but a clean sheet is a clean sheet. Ulreich will definitely appear in at least one more match (Tuesday against Hoffenheim) in his Bayern career, so maybe he’ll get another shutout? Congrats, Sven.
Golf Clap: Thiago Alcantara
Ho-hum, another world class performance in the middle of the park from Thiago Alcantara. There can be few debates any longer that there’s any midfield player having a better season than Thiago. The Spanish maestro turns nearly every Bayern match into a personal highlight reel.
Standing Ovation: Thomas Müller
This was a great day for Müller. He was involved in four of the six goals that Bayern scored against Augsburg, including grabbing his own brace. However, most Bayern fans will rightly be concerned with his ankle, and hopefully, it’s nothing serious. If Müller is scoring goals, watch out, Europe.
Meister of the Match: Robert Lewandowski
Three goals and two assists. That’s not a shabby scoreline for Lewandowski on the day. He’s in peak form and seemingly scoring at will in a Bayern jersey. This month is huge for Bayern, and if Lewandowski can keep up this form, there is nobody that can beat the Bavarians.
