After downing Schalke 3-0 on Wednesday with two goals from Robert Lewandowski and a goal from Thiago, Bayern Munich will face either Sportfreunde Lotte or Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal semifinals. Yesterday’s game between Lotte and Dortmund was postponed due to heavy snowfall. The game will be rescheduled on March 14. If Sportfreunde Lotte beat Dortmund, Bayern will play away from home against Lotte, but if Dortmund beat Lotte, Bayern will play at home against Dortmund.
Bayern never faced Sportfreunde Lotte before. Against Dortmund, Bayern have won five, drew three and lost one of the nine matches they have played in the German Cup. Their only loss came in the 2012 cup final when Dortmund beat Bayern 5-2. Dortmund currently sit 3rd in the Bundesliga table, acquiring eight players in the summer transfer window in attempt to compete with Bayern Munich for the German championship.
In the other semifinal draw, Eintracht Frankfurt will travel to Borussia Park to face Borussia Mönchengladbach. The semifinals take place on April 25 and 26.
The final will be played at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on May 27.
