Douglas Costa has been ruled out of Bayern Munich’s match on Sunday against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Brazilian winger injured his left knee in training on Friday, and while Bayern have only said he’ll be facing “a spell on the sidelines”, it’s not quite known the severity of the injury and if Costa will miss any extended time.
He was set to join up with the Brazil national team during the international break for 2018 World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay. However, he has now withdrawn from the squad and will remain at Säbener Straße for treatment during the international break.
Against Gladbach, it’s likely that Carlo Ancelotti will play Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben on opposing flanks with Kingsley Coman in reserve. Costa’s loss shouldn’t be felt at the weekend. Hopefully, the injury isn’t significant, and Costa will return to the Bayern squad shortly after the team returns following the international break.
