Bastian’s older brother Tobias Schweinsteiger, currently coach of Bayern’s U17 team, made waves yesterday, when Sport1 revealed his grade on the theoretical exam required for the UEFA A Coaching License: the elder Schweinsteiger received a perfect score!

Only one other person has managed to accomplish that feat in the past 16 years: Thomas Tuchel.

The UEFA A License is required in order to serve as the coach of second-tier teams, including reserve teams such as Bayern II. Could Schweinsteiger be part of Bayern’s longer-term plans for its reserve team, as Bayern shake up their youth division, parting ways with current coach Heiko Vogel?

The next step after the A License is the UEFA Pro License, which qualifies the holder to coach at the highest level. If the comparison to Tuchel is anything to go by, Schweinsteiger has a bright coaching future ahead of him.
