Just before Christmas, a fire ravaged and destroyed the club facility of Munich-based amateur club FC Teutonia. Their 23 teams no longer have a place of their own. The damages are estimated to be in the €250,000 range.
Now, Bayern Munich are stepping in to raise money for the club. In the upcoming amateurderby between Bayern Munich II and 1860 Munich II, Bayern are adding an extra euro to cost of the tickets for a donation. The club will then be adding their own money to the donation.
In a statement on the club’s website, Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge praises Teutonia as one of Munich’s traditional clubs and their great work in their youth department. Teutonia’s President Klaus Neuner praised Bayern and noted that they were “overwhelmed by the news.”
Hopefully, this money will go a long ways to getting the club back on their feet and new club facilities built for Teutonia as soon as possible.
