Bayern Munich heavily represented in Bundesliga Team of the Hinrunde

Five is a good number for what has been a trying season in the Bundesliga

Bayern Munich are once again heavily represented in the Bundesliga team awards with five winners in the fan voting for the Team of the Hinrunde.

Rather than leaning on their attack, Bayern Munich’s defense is their key showing with three of their five players represented. Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, and David Alaba anchor the best defense in the Bundesliga. Mats Hummels finished a close third in the centerback voting losing out to Köln’s Mergim Mavraj by just a single percentage point, while Javi Martinez was omitted from voting entirely in favor of a poor showing from Jerome Boateng.

In midfield, Thiago beat out fellow Bayern teammate Arturo Vidal. It’s just another way that Thiago’s class rises to to the top. Robert Lewandowski rounded out the Bayern representatives, courtesy of his single handed third place status in the Bundesliga scoring charts, and definitely not from the overall quality of the Bayern Munich’s attack this season.

Full Team of the Hinrunde: Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Sokratis (Borussia Dortmund), Mergim Mavraj (1 FC Köln), David Alaba; Ousman Dembele (Borussia Dortmund), Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund), Thiago; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund), Robert Lewandowski, Antony Modeste (1 FC Köln)
