After becoming the second team in UEFA Champions League history to not win their group despite getting 15 points, Bayern Munich waited with baited breath on Monday to find out who its next opponent would be in the Round of 16.
Bayern was drawn with Besiktas, the 2017 Turkish Süper Lig champions. Besiktas won Group G after beating RB Leipzig twice. It wasn't exactly the group of death, but rather than thank its lucky stars they didn't draw Barcelona or one of the English sides, Bayern would do well to take the Istanbul side seriously. They play a stout defensive game and striker Cenk Tosun is coming off a domestic campaign that saw him score 20 goals in 33 games and bag four more in the six group-stage matches this season.
The first match of the two-leg tie will take place on February 20, so mark your calendars.
