According to multiple reports, new Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes personally called Arturo Vidal to ask him to come back to Munich early for training instead of traveling with Chile for its final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier Tuesday at Brazil. Vidal wasn’t going to be able to play against Brazil after picking up a yellow card in Chile’s 2-1 win against Ecuador last Thursday.
The fact that Heynckes coached Vidal before in Bayer Leverkusen may have helped convince the Chilean to come back to Germany early. Arturo planned on traveling to Sao Paulo with the team to support Chile from the stands as it tries to secure their place in Russia next year on the last day of qualifying.
