A return in October is unlikely.

Bayern Munich are going to have to survive without Douglas Costa for longer than anticipated. The Brazilian, who suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh on matchday 3 against Ingolstadt, was expected to return to the club in October after the international break. Kicker reports the winger will to be out of action until sometime in November.

The 26-year-old missed both the Copa America Centenario and the Rio Olympics due to a thigh injury. It appeared that Bayern were getting healthier, but unfortunately Costa's injury is worse than first thought. He will miss the upcoming fixtures against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga, and both games against Augsburg. He will also miss Brazil’s World Cup Qualifying fixtures against Bolivia and Venezuela.

Though unfortunate for both club and player, Bayern Munich should be able to withstand Costa’s latest setback, especially with Franck Ribery in fantastic form again. The Frenchman already has two goals and six assists in all competitions. Arjen Robben is back and scored a goal against Hertha Berlin. Hopefully when Costa comes back, he can stay healthy because he’s still a very important player for Bayern Munich going forward.
