Nearly three-and-a-half year’s ago Bayern Munich destroyed an inept Hamburger SV, 9-2, en route to winning their first treble in club history. Since that match Bayern have laid waste in most of their matchups, including a 8-0 win two seasons ago. Carlo Ancelotti’s first visit to the Volksparkstadion as the coach of Bayern should come replete with the same type of fireworks shouldn’t it?
Ancelotti has aggressively hinted that Bayern Munich will rotate coming off their 3-0 win over Hertha BSC on Wednesday and how the Bayern MUnich secondary choice players can pick apart a team like Hamburg will go a long way to showing just how ready they are a moments notice. Can Renato Sanches find his place in the Bayern midfield after several lackluster performances? Will Joshua Kimmich add yet another impressive performance to the month of September?
For their part Hamburger SV are still searching for that elusive first win of the new season. Head coach Bruno Laddadia is already under tremendous pressure with his side having secured only a single point through four matchdays to pair with a backline that has already conceded nine goals. Having to face Bayern this early with those struggles at the forefront is almost criminally unfair.
