Jerome Boateng makes his return to the starting eleven for Bayern Munich as Carlo Ancelotti is going full throttle at fellow table toppers Hertha BSC. This is certainly going to be the truest test of whether the midfield of Arturo Vidal, Thiago, and Xabi Alonso is actually one of the best that Bayern Munich can roll out or whether Joshua Kimmich deserves a more permanent berth given the run of form he’s had in the last three weeks.

Anticipated Tactical Setup

This is Bayern Munich’s strongest starting lineup right now. Look for that parnership of Thomas Müller and Robert Lewandowski to be the main driver of Bayern’s offense, especially with Hertha centerback John Anthony Brooks out.
How Boateng and Martinez pair with Alonso given the former’s distribution skills will be interesting while how in-sync Thiago and Vidal can be will be crucial to whether Bayern Munich can get the ball into Lewandowski and Müller when Hertha defend in deep areas.
