Bayern Munich will look to start their 2016-17 DFB Pokal campaign with a big victory when they visit Carl Zeiss Jenna. The Regionalliga side, however, is a regular in the Pokal and will be hoping that they can claim their biggest win ever against the mighty Bavarians.
Coming off of Sunday’s Supercup victory over Borussia Dortmund, all eyes are once again on Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti as he navigates through selecting a squad for the Pokal. Will the regular starters get a run out against Jena as Bayern prepare for the Bundesliga’s restart next Friday against Werder Bremen? If I was a betting man, I’d expect to see many regulars on the field against Jena.
To mark the occasion of winning last year’s cup, Bayern will wear a special patch on their jersey courtesy of the DFB. This is the first time that the Pokal winners will wear a special badge, so thankfully it was done on a year that Bayern won.
The defense starts now. Can Bayern repeat as DFB Pokal champions?
