Kingsley Coman had to be transported off of the training pitch Wednesday morning after he collided with Javi Martinez in practice. The 20-year-old winger received medical attention immediately before the trainers took him off the field on a golf cart. According to the official Bayern twitter page, the French international suffered an ankle injury that will definitely keep him off the pitch for some time.

“It is never good when a player is lying on the ground, has pain and cannot stand up anymore,” Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm told BILD. “I don’t know whether Martinez collided with him or whether it happened on impact. But it doesn’t look good.”
Coman made his first appearance in the German Supercup on Sunday after his extended vacation following the Euros. If he is is sidelined for an extended period of time, it will leave Bayern very short in terms of depth out on the wings.
Douglas Costa and Arjen Robben are still weeks away from match fitness. Franck Ribery is healthy and fit, but it seems a risky bet to count on him to stay fully healthy for an extended period of time, especially if he doesn’t get the proper amount of rest.
Taking a look at Ryan’s depth chart from last week, it looks as though that would leave Julian Green as the back-up to both Ribery and Müller on the flanks. Should either one of those three go down with an injury, it would seem that Fabian Benko would be next in line for a spot out on the wings.
