This is potentially a huge boost.

The newly crowned German Football of the Year Jérôme Boateng has not ruled out a return to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the season opener against Werder Bremen. The Bayern Munich centre-back suffered a torn right muscle bundle in his right thigh in Germany’s 2-0 semifinal loss to France at the Euros.

Boateng returned to training last week after completing his first laps of the season at Säbener Straße. The World Cup winner did not play against Dortmund in Bayern’s 2-0 German Super Cup victory at Signal Iduna Park.

Boateng on if he’s going be part of the squad for the Bundesliga season opener against Werder Bremen on Aug. 26: "I don't want to commit myself to it. It right now looks good, but the Bremen match might come too soon," Boateng told kicker. "I don't want anything to happen again now."

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal didn’t sustain a major injury after he was checked by the club’s medical department on Monday. The Chilean international limped off the field with a foot injury following a clash with Borussia Dortmund forward Adrian Ramos. He was replaced by Joshua Kimmich 13 minutes after his goal. Vidal expects to resume training on Wednesday.
