After three seasons at Bayern Munich, is Mario Götze ready to leave the Bavarian capital? Following early links with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, it now appears that another English Premier League club has entered the chase: Tottenham Hotspur.
Götze’s representatives have had contact with Tottenham in recent days, according to a new report from Bild. The paper goes on to speculate that if Götze were to leave Bayern, he would likely choose between Spurs or a return to BVB.
If any English club made sense for Götze to join, it would be Tottenham ahead of Liverpool. Despite his “connection” with Jürgen Klopp, Tottenham earned a spot directly into the group stage of next season’s Champions League and are better positioned for repeat qualifications than Liverpool.
Götze has previously claimed that he’s planning on remaining at Bayern and fighting for a spot under new coach Carlo Ancelotti. However, if the opportunity for a fresh start (and, likely, more money) comes along, can Mario resist?
