Bayern Munich lit the Allianz Arena in red, white, and blue to resemble the American flag to honor the American Independence Day festivities on July 4th. The Arena was lit between the hours of 8:00 pm and 11:00 pm local Munich time.
“We are very happy to be able to celebrate Independence Day in such a special manner with our fans,” said Jörg Wacker, a member of Bayern’s Executive Board focusing on Internationalization and Strategy.
The lighting was done also in celebrations as Bayern announced the club’s 100th official US fan club. Since focusing on expanding the club’s brand in the USA, Bayern have gone from 8 fan clubs in 2014 to 100 now in 2016.
“We are excited to welcome the 100th U.S. fan club to our family on this special holiday,” said Rudolf Vidal, Bayern’s US Managing Director. “The milestone fan club ‘Stern des Suedens South Carolina’, hailing from Greer SC, joined the large network of official U.S. supporter groups that spans across 37 States, including the District of Columbia.”
This summer, Bayern will take part in the International Champions Cup in the United States as part of their Audi Summer Tour. They will play AC Milan in Chicago on July 27, Inter Milan in Charlotte on July 30, and Real Madrid in East Rutherford on August 3.
