UEFA has released the ten man shortlist for their Best Player in Europe Award. Two Bayern Munich players have made this year’s list, with four others just missing out. Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer are still in the running for the award with former Bayern player Toni Kroos also nominated.

The regular favorites, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, are also joined by Gareth Bale, Gianluigi Buffon, Antoine Griezmann, Pepe, and Luis Suarez. After winning the UEFA Champions League and Euro 2016, it would be extremely shocking for anyone except Ronaldo to win the award.

With only ten men making the list, there were always going to be some great players being left out. Bayern stars Jerome Boateng, Arturo Vidal, Renato Sanches and Robert Lewandowski received votes but didn’t make the top ten. One of the biggest stars left of the list was Barcelona’s Neymar.

Gareth Bale
Gianluigi Buffon
Antoine Griezmann
Toni Kroos
Lionel Messi
Thomas Müller

Cristiano Ronaldo

Bayern Munich players also receiving votes: Jerome Boateng, Arturo Vidal, Renato Sanches, Robert Lewandowski
