It’s time for Germany

Switzerland, Northern Ireland, and Croatia are already out. Wales, Portugal, and Poland are through to the quarterfinals. All three matches this Sunday are must watch television, especially as Kingsley Coman and the Bayern Munich contingent with Germany are all on the docket. It’s the European Championship knockout rounds.

France vs. Republic or Ireland

This is France’s chance to make a serious statement about their ability at this edition of the European Championships. So far they’ve been a rather lackluster performer but bright sparks from Dmitri Payet and Kingsley Coman have shown a team that can easily sneak in a dominating performance. Ireland are still in this competition after an upset of Sweden and a terrible group stage performance.

Germany vs Slovakia

This is the true test of Germany. Their performance against Northern Ireland was them emptying the entire magazine and hitting the target once. They have the firepower but proving they can break down compact defenses like Slovakia on the regular is the missing piece.

Hungary vs Belgium

Hungary won their group. So there’s zero reason for you to have any expectations about this match. They go right out the window. Hungary is pretty bad, have Adam Szalai as their main striker, and somehow they are going to beat a Belgium team that is loaded to the gills with some of the most impressive young talent in Europe. Because this team defies logic and reason.
