Picking a Best XI from the history of the European Championship is difficult, so UEFA decided that it would be best to let the fans pick the team. They received over 3.5 million votes, and two Bayern Munich and Germany legends found their way into the side.

The formation is a 4-3-3 with legends at every position.

Forwards: Thierry Henry (France), Marco Van Basten (Netherlands), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

Midfielders: Andres Iniesta (Spain), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Zinedine Zidane (France)

Defenders: Paolo Maldini (Italy), Franz Beckenbauer (Germany), Carlos Puyol (Spain), Philipp Lahm (Germany)

Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy)

Do you like the squad? Yes, it is heavy with recent history, but that’s to be expected when the fans vote. Who would you have picked?
