Medhi Benatia watched Bayern Munich's Champions League semifinal against Atletico Madrid from the stands for what has become an all to common reason, according to Pep Guardiola during his Friday press conference. Benatia had "slight muscle problems" which caused him to, yet again, miss another match.
He did take some part in Friday's training session ahead of the potential Bundesliga title deciding game against Ingolstadt this weekend, but it is not yet known if he's going to be fit enough to even make the bench at this point. If Benatia is unavailable, Serdar Tasci is likely to make the squad in his place.
With only three matches remaining before players depart for their international duties, it will be interesting to see if Benatia gets another run out in a Bayern jersey. With Jerome Boateng back for the Bavarians and Javi Martinez available to partner with him, there isn't a place for him in the starting lineup.
The widespread belief remains that the club and the big Moroccan centerback will look for a transfer back to a Serie A club, most likely Juventus. Perhaps a deal will be worked involving the permanent signing of Kingsley Coman in Munich?
