Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rumenigge has no idea why Mario Götze wants to stay at Bayern Munich. This is not hyperbole. He legitimately doesn't know.
"We made everything clear to Mario, he knows what the club thinks and he knows what the future coach thinks."
"Mario has to consider for himself whether he wants to constantly get minutes."
"I talked to him, also Ancelotti. Mario knows Bayern's thoughts,"
"Maybe he just wants to go into the European Championships without any speculation." - Kicker (translation via ESPN)
Mario Götze seems to be a troubled footballer. First he was going to leave Bayern Munich. Then he fired his agent, hired his parents, and then told the press -- the tabloid press at that -- he is staying at Bayern Munich to fight for a spot under Carlo Ancelotti. And that was just what he did over the weekend!
And this decision to switch agents scuttled his move to Liverpool. Kicker reports Mario Götze had a €25M transfer to Liverpool with a wage package equal to that which he's on at Bayern (€12M) but with his agent and he coming to a parting of the ways, the deal fell through.
Is anyone else starting to think is going to turn into one gigantic mess of a situation?
