This was the first loss of the entire campaign for Bayern Munich. Despite the fact that they were eliminated early in the UEFA Women's Champions League, they were knocked out on away goals by Dutch giants Twente. However, there was still something positive to take from this encounter as international Melanie Leupolz returned to action after an absence of six weeks due to an injury.
''Sand put on an incredible fight and were rightfull rewarded. They won deservedly. It was a very close match in which we made it very difficult for ourselves,'' expressed himself Head Coach Worle in the post-match interview.
''We couldn't get into the game and we just weren't good enough in the end. Sand deserved the win,'' said captain Melanie Behringer with a tone of disappointment.
An elimination which is difficult to digest as the Bavarian club was striving towards a domestic double. However, this does not hinder their excellent season so far.
