Bayern Sporting Director Matthias Sammer has been hospitalized due to a blood circulation problem in his brain, a condition that has has caused him to miss the last two Bayern games.
In a press release on fcb.de, club doctor Dr. Roland Schmidt describes the condition as a "minute circulatory disorder in the brain, which will heal completely and without consequences." According to the press release, Sammer is feeling well, but will take his time recovering to make sure he is back to 100% before returning to his duties with the club.
"I'm not constrained in any way and the doctors have assured me I'll be completely healed and restored," he said. "However, I will give myself the necessary time to recover. After that I will again be available to the team and FC Bayern with all my energy."
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge shared his sentiment, saying "The most important thing now is that Matthias Sammer recovers completely. Matthias knows we will give him all the time he needs before resuming his duties at FC Bayern with his previous strength."
Sammer, who spent a big chunk of his playing days with Dresden, Stuttgart, and Dortmund, has been with Bayern since 2012 when he took over as Sporting Director from Christian Nerlinger.
We all wish him the best of luck in his recovery!
