Bayern Munich will be without the services of Xabi Alonso when they take the field against Schalke in their next Bundesliga match. Alonso picked up his fifth yellow card against Stuttgart during Bayern's 3-1 victory and will have to sit out.
The card that Alonso received was rather contentious. During the first half, Alonso made a challenge on Timo Werner as the Stuttgart midfielder dribbled up the middle of the park. Werner threw himself to the ground to the annoyance of Alonso.
Well... that was something.— Bavarian FB Works (@BavarianFBWorks) April 9, 2016
Alonso nearly lost his mind at how easy Werner went to the ground.
Alonso ran to the referee and yelled about the fact that, in his opinion, Werner dove to the ground without any contact between the two. The replays were inconclusive, and Alonso was shown a yellow card for his troubles.
With Alonso out, perhaps we see the return of Sebastian Rode against Schalke next weekend?
