Die Mannschaft will not have their number one goalkeeper Manuel Neuer available against Italy on Tuesday. Neuer has withdrawn from the DFB squad because of a stomach illness.
"The World Goalkeeper of the Year is suffering from a stomach illness, and the coaches, after discussion with the team doctors, decided it would be best for him to continue his recovery at home," the DFB said in a statement.
However, The three-time IFFHS Goalkeeper of the Year, is expected to be fit in time for Bayern's Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon, with der Rekordmeister five points clear of Borussia Dortmund at the summit. With Neuer ruled out, either Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp or Bernd Leno will get the call to deputize between the posts at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.
World champions Germany are looking to rebound from Saturday's 3-2 friendly defeat to The Three Lions in Berlin.
