During his Tuesday press conference, Pep Guardiola revealed that Arjen Robben was suffering from a cold and was probable for the match against Juventus. When the lineups were announced ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League match, Robben's name was absent from both the starting eleven and the bench.
However, in an interview with Sky before the match, Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer revealed the true reason for Robben's absence. Apparently, Robben picked up a minor adductor injury during training on Sunday following the club's Werder Bremen match. He is expected to miss this weekend's match against FC Köln, also. However, Sammer stressed that the injury was a minor issue.
One would expect that the Robben's call-up to the Netherlands for their upcoming friendlies will be declined due to this injury. Considering the injury crisis that has hit Bayern over the last few seasons, expect the club to try and take extra special care of the Dutch midfielder.
