There was joy on the training pitch at Säbaner Strasse as Javi Martinez returned to a session with the rest of the team for the first time since he injured himself back at the start of the Rückrunde. As one could imagine, Pep Guardiola was excited to have Javi back in training. "This is great news. Welcome back, Javi!"
Martinez suffered minor damage to his surgically repaired left meniscus during the game back in January against Hamburg. The initial prognosis was set at three to four weeks, but his return has been delayed by a few weeks. At the end of February, Martinez finally returned to running and got a ball under his feet a week ago.
Guardiola downplayed any chance that Javi may appear in Bayern's Champions League match with Juventus midweek due to the fact that he hasn't completely an entire training session yet. So, don't expect him on the field at the Allianz Arena next week.
